JBL is a well-established brand in the audio game. They are known for producing some of the best speakers like the JBL Flip Series. And they sure don’t disappoint when it comes to earphones. So let’s break down whether you should buy the JBL C100SI or not?
I’ve been testing these earphones for the last one month and they’ve gone through some of the roughest situations and test. All the electronics of JBL C100SI are housed in a hard plastic body. Which does not completely flush with your skull, so you shouldn’t try wearing them to sleep. Although being the crazy and curious person I’m, I did try sleeping with these earbuds and it was just to much pressure on the ear. The silicon tips that JBL provides are soft, but you can’t wear them through a long 7-8 hour day (Fact: That’s the average amount of time I spend listening to Music every day), at some point, your ear will start irritating. They have rubberized cables which aren’t tangle free.
They do have little protectors to keep the cables from tearing on day one along with an inline button(and microphone) to take or end calls/ play or pause your music. These weighs in about 11.36 grams.
Accessories and Packaging
These earphones are packed much like any other earphones, plastic box and nothing fancy. Inside the box, you also find a warranty manual and a user guide(that no one reads). You’ll also get two additional eartips: small and large size(the medium sized comes preinstalled).
Mids sound great. The lower mids are warm and laid back due to the mid-bass bleed. A little tunning later on the equalizer the lower mids sound much cleaner while still remaining free of boxeness or harshness.
Highs are bright and detailed. I never noticed any piercing or sibilance. Again the equalizer makes the highs a little more detailed and brighter. Although piercing stays under control, but sibilance comes into the picture.
Leaking sound is not a problem with these, I blasted my volume to max on an airplane and no co-passenger complained.
Despite their tiny size, sound isolation on these are pretty good. For the most part, I’m able to hear all the distinctive sounds. They definitely don’t sound like a 90’s tape recorder where all the instruments sounds is a mix which sounds terrible.
This is the part where you get sold on these. The bass is an excellent balance between lacking enough base or too much base that you can’t even hear the vocals. It hits the sweet spot(at least for me). Adding an amplifier like Fiio does help it to reach better performance, which heavy bass hitters will love.
But I won’t suggest you push them to their limits.
The JBL C100SI are a very good pair of earphones who love bass and they definitely are a bank for your buck at Rs. 799. In conclusion, I can say they are the best earphones I’ve ever listened to in the sub-1000 Rs. range.
Overall Rating: 9/10
